Circulation Assistant (part-time)

Job Description

Title: Circulation Assistant

Reports To: Assistant Director

Job Classification: Non-Exempt Hourly Part-Time Assistant

Requirements: High School Diploma or higher

Preferences: Customer service experience and/or library experience

Hours (16-20 hrs/week):

  • Monday – Friday: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Some Saturdays: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Starting Wage: $12.50/hr 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Knows and applies library policies.
  • Provides excellent customer service to library patrons.
  • Understands the necessity of, and maintains, the confidentiality of library use.
  • Has a working knowledge of the library Evergreen software, and able to serve patrons at the circulation desk.
  • Shelves materials as assigned.
  • Straightens and organizes shelves as assigned.
  • Assists patrons with use of library computers, printers, and fax machines.
  • Maintains knowledge of entire collection and can assist patrons in finding what they need.
  • Assists with programming, discarding, signage, and any other tasks assigned by the Assistant Director.
  • Handles cash transactions including fines and fees.
  • Checks and unloads the drop box.
  • Assists with inter-library loans and transits as assigned.
  • Works cooperatively with other departments and staff members.
  • Completes any other tasks as assigned by the Assistant Director.
